Starting my Pickup

I drove my 39 Pickup two weeks ago and on the way home had to pull over. I believe that was because of a vapor lock. The next day, the truck started right up and I started looking for solutions to solve the vapor lock. I know what I am going to do for that, but now my truck won't start.

I have checked electrical systems and it appears that there is no spark at the plugs.

Where should I be looking??

"90% of fuel problems are electrical".

I love that old phrase. It's pretty accurate. I've experienced it myself!

Thanks for the tips. I have a spare coil that has been rebuilt and I will go get a 6-volt condenser as a start. I appreciate the help.

You might also check the voltage going to the coil to make sure it's not getting too much voltage. In that case the coil would eventually get hot and break down.

On my 38. I use a napa IH200 condenser (I know there are better for mfg, but is easy to get. I bought 3 just because). A skip coil. A bubba dizzy. It might seem like a ad i guess, but I'm not prepared or capable of rebuilding these items with solid proficiency. It takes a village. 5 yrs running and by running I mean it sits for 4 months and cranks over quickly after that (totally rewired with harnesses from Sacramento ford). Granted new fuel lines, rebuilt carb(this was the hardest of the whole thing to source) and tank.

4v at the coil as mentioned. I've smoked a couple coils with the power on and points open without the engine running, yrs past... including a yblock. burnt into by brain now to always check if the ignition power was on when the engine was not running. :)

Best of luck.
