m68 ford ltd 390 cu will not turn over when trying to start it.
new--starter & solenoid battery and ignition switch with cylinder and keys
when I hit the switch the power is on but the starter wont engage.
when I tried to start it the battery was dead from sitting over the winter. jumped it and let it run awhile.when turnen the key off it kept running.took battery cable off to stop it when I tried to start it again it would not turn over
I was checking wires when I shoreted something out and the power went off no interior lites nothing has power
any and all input is appreciated
thank u joe

You may try reversing the two small wires on top your solenoid and see what happens.

Great point and something that is very easy to mess up. The wires are usually different colors and I make a mental note of which goes where if I take them off. Its also possible that your ignition switch has a mis-wire.

my problem now is I have no power in the car.No horn, radio, interior lites. I cant check anything or shift the wires. The only place my tester lites is from the battery to the starter solenoid on the fender well.
any ideas whats going on with this.
thank u joe

This here from your OP... you probably shorted something in the wiring that leads to your interior, etc. Start tracing your wiring there. You are good at the Battery side of the solenoid right? Ok then follow the thickest wire (10 ga I believe) from your battery side of the solenoid until it makes it's first connection down the line. Use your test light at that first hot connection and just keep going from there.

I feel for you... sometimes these electrical gremlins are hard to trace.

Let us know what you find.

im going to send it to the doctor Monday and let him figure it out.im tired and to dumb and frustrated to fix it
