Starter solonoid

What year did Ford start using a starter solenoid? 1937? I think that is correct, but just checking. I want to be correct. And,was "mechanics button" standard on Fords that year ? Thanks. Lawson

1936 did not have one, so I think you are correct.

My original '37 has the solenoid equipped with the button on the bottom aka "mechanics button"....

My 37 has one with a button as well.

Thirty-sixes have the floor button between the brake and clutch pedals. Before I started driving my car I thought this would be a problem, my feet constantly hitting the starter switch inadvertently, but fortunately it's never been an issue, not once.
