Starter selinoid

I had a starter selinoid stick a couple of times on the firewall, it is probably still a 1941 selinoid, because I have never changed it. I knocked on it several times, and the engine quit turning over.I guess it is time for
replacement.
Is there a certain way it is supposed to be mounted? Right now, it has the under the hood button on the bottom of the selinoid. Some body told me that I needed to turn it 180 degrees with the button on the top, so if the return spring inside breaks that the button will always be in the released position.
I have always seen them with the button on the lower side.

Low voltage from batt are cables can cause them to stick, also a starter that draws to much amp. can cause it. Also the button was always on the bottom. Bill

Just for the heck of it, take it apart and see if you can fix it. The top is pressed on, but I bet it will come off if you carefully think it thru.
