starter question

just picked up a new starter for my 21 stud 37 engine. What is the brass/copper strap for that is attached. the original starter did not have one.
 
Ask in the early V8 forum. Only a few look here and less reply. This section is for questions to the editor about the site not car questions.

Add a pictures and repost everything on the main forum. Maybe someone added a place to attach a ground strap to the starter case. Maybe you are looking at the bracket that supports the end of the starter by securing it to the engine (it shouldn't be brass or copper). Picture is needed.
