Hi, I got this starter with some other spares when I bought my 1942 Canadian ford F15 CMP, fitted with ford 24 stud v8, the truck uses a solenoid and obviously this starter has a mechanical switch.
After a lot of searching I am at a loss as to which vehicle this was fitted to, can anybody help please?
Best Regards, Gareth.

OK, on the starter are the following letters and numbers -
PS1229
C31
A11130
12v
Can someone please point me in a direction where I can decipher the markings and find out which vehicle this starter was fitted to.
Am I barking up the wrong tree here, I am assuming that this is a Ford starter for a V8, is this correct? or is it prestolite, autolite , delco remy etc?
Also assuming for a wartime vehicle, all help greatly appreciated, even if you think it looks like one off a___?
Regards, Gareth.

The C31A11130 appears to be a Ford part no., I looked up the generic no. 11130 in the Ford Australia 49-54 parts book and there is 7RA11130 which is for a 1949 Truck "Plate-Starter Motor-Rear End".

The C31A11130 stamped on the rear of your starter and could be deciphered as"C"- Canada, "3"- 1943 design, "1"-,221cid engine, "A" - ??, "11130" - Rear end plate.

Hope this helps but may confuse the matter further.

Cheers, Neil.

GM and Studebaker both used similar design starters and maybe others too. The Hiller model 12 B/C helicopters with Franklin engines also used a similar starter. It might take some research work to nail it down for certain.

PS is likely a Prestolite number.
