stantion angle

I am trying to assemble my Brookville deluxe roadster body, windshield top iron assembly, LB top etc. I have just discovered that my wind shield stanchions are not at the right angle. They are actually leaning forward. The stops on the stanchions are keeping them from going back where they should be.
What should the angle be? I am thinking that the top post where the header attaches should be vertical. Can someone help me with this?
Then how should I remedy the problem? I am either going to have to grind down the stop on the stanchion or the stanchion mount.

Sorry, that will not work. If you looked at a pair, you would see why.
the stanchions left and right are not exchangeable.

I think this is Marco's roadster.

Yes, that's mine. As you can see it follows the angle of the lower support. In reality however, you won't see many with a proper angle on the stanchions. Reproduction Deluxe top bows including LB's complete repro assemblies push the windshield forward at the top. This has been my experience since my first installation of an LB assembly in 1974. Some have been quite close to vertical due to the top.

Thanks for the replies.
Saturday night I took files and filed down on the stanchion mount and on the stanchion stop until the stanchion angled back what I thought was the right angle matching the angle of the mount. I think it will work out OK. Now LB paper patterns that I must match and mark up up appear to fit well. I'm glad I found this out before I begin installing the top.

This has always been a problem with my roadster. But I need the "puttin on tool" as mine come back too far and no matter how you tighten them, when riding with the top down the wind moves them back to the contact and it is too far. I know the base supports are original, and always assumed I got some bad repro back when the car was restored in '74.
