Any one have a photo of the stanchion mounting area? (Before the stanchion is mounted.) Trying to determine how much is missing and the general shape to rebuild. This is on a 29 Phaeton.

I can take some closeups and post in the next couple of days if nothing else gets posted before then. What shape is the one on the other side in? Worse?

From what i see , I think that is a right side door post or lower stantion.
they are hard to find for a 28-29 open car. I have one in the same shape
on the same side. I found one after years of looking here in the north east of ohio. The rest of my post is perfect. No rust or pitting. The one i found
looks like swiss cheese. Execpt the top is perfect, will have the top cut off and welded to mine. Will go to the garage and take some pictures fore you. Will send them to you by e-mail

Ken,

Here's a few photos that might help you out. Sorry for the poor quality but they're the best I could do with the sun going down. I hope they help!

Hey thanks Deron, that's perfect! I think I can restore the upper part using your photos. Just one more question--Is the nut plate 5/16-24, 1/4-20,???

This thread is very helpful to me also......I'll have to be doing the very same thing to my '28 Phaeton.

Ken if you have time when you are working, snapshots along the way would be helpful.......if you feel like doing a tutorial...:D

Roc - Don't know about a tutorial but I can get pics. It may be a few few weeks though. This area is last. I'm about to do a full sub rail and pan replacement. (When the parts arrive.) I'm only concerned with getting the dash bar and stanchion to align and mount. Since this area is covered, I'm not too concerned with it being OEM "exact" but the pop-rivets have gotta go!
