Square Nuts and Reeded Edge Lock Washers

Is there as source for square nuts and reeded edge lock washers? By reeded edge, I mean a series of grooved lines that encircle the perimeter of the washer (see picture). I remember that someone was making original style fasteners for the Model A, and I probably saved the information but can't find it.

I think the supplier you are remembering is Roy Nacewicz (www.fordbolts.com) however his fasteners are "close" but not exact if they are to used in fine-point competition. I have purchased the lock washers like in your diagram from Industrial Bolt Depot however they are not the proper thickness for use in fine-point. They do have the edges though. As far as the square nut is concerned, I also purchased those and machined the relief in the lathe. If you don't have a lathe, you may be able to put a piece of all-thread in a drill motor chuck, jamb-nut the square nut on the end and spin it against a file or fine grinding wheel.

A few years ago Fleet Farm had a bunch of lock washers with the serrated edge. It was a one time supply though and I haven't seen any more in any stores.

FYI, that type square nut I believe is referred to as a "carriage nut". They were used in various places on commercial bodies relating to wood assemblies. On passenger models they will only be found only on fender mounted rear lamp brackets (1/4"-20), and on spring center bolts.

I've never found modern lock washers that match.
