I used the same procedure that I used on my 20 Model T. After blasting and spaying the leaves with back paint I apply a light coat of grease spreading it my finger. Then I lay two strips of plumbers Teflon tape side by side and wipe another thin layer of grease on top of the stripes. The skim layer of grease holds the tape in place. Do this to each leaf and then assemble. If any excess grease squeezes out I wipe it off. My "T" has been together 12 years and no squeaks.

I used brake caliper grease. Working well so far.
