Spoke straightening

Just wondering if there is a way to straighten spokes without buying a pricey speciality tool that will collect dust 99% of the time. Might sound like a dumb quesion, but I thought I would ask before I bought. Joe

Steve Schmaush ,put a great seminar on wheels at the Nationals in Portland
he uses two large screwdrivers and uses them a levers to pry them into shape
one screwdriver in each hand ,and just pull up on the low ones, you can also push them down
he straightend some pretty bad ones, but if they are stretched then they must be heated and cooled to shrink them

A slide hammer with a hook works pretty well and then you can use it to take dents out of the sheetmetal.

Sure glad I posted that question. Never knew to look for cracks in the wheel. Needless to say I found a crack in 3 out of 4 wheels. Thanks for all the good info and Happy New Year
