Splitting a wishbone on a 40

Hello !

I have seen a few hotrod 40s with 1942 split wishbones.
Is there a benefit to using 1942 wishbones vs. 1940 wishbones ?
I can see the angle in the 42 vs. the 40s, but do not know how this helps ?
Any feed back would be nice as I have a hotrod 40 and have both styles of wishbones and would make the change if it helped in some way.

A few pics would help. I assume that 42 is longer, since the frame is more like 46/48, but I don't see how that would help.

The longer link will reduce the arc radius of the axle during up and down travel.
