Splash Guards

I am curious about pans that I believe are called splash guards that go on either side of the engine? Were these stock items and am I supposed to have them? I guess I do not recall ever seeing them on any engines I have looked at except one at a show a few weeks ago. (They looked a bit goofy on that one)

My goal is to slowly but surely get it (29 ccpu) as close to original as I can.

Yes, your Model A had them when new and should have them now. They are called Engine Splash Pans and here is one source for them.

they help keep the engine cool by diverting the air from the fan around the engine and out the hood louvers and towards the trans. the pans stop the air from being lost out the bottom. they also act as splash shields.

They also add additional electrical grounding.
