spindle play

I am rebuilding my front axle on my model a and making a parts list of what i need. my king pins are tight and don't seem to have any play but I am able to move my spindle up and down on axle and was wondering how much is ok? I would geuss i have about the thickness of a quarter when i pry it up. And on a side note I know to use the spring compressors but is there one that will do both or have to buy the front and the rear Thanks
 
What Ron said for the springs.

Sounds like you only need the bearing and/or shims for the kingpins. If you have very much play the spindle rubs on the axle and makes for stiff steering.
 
so what you are saying Tom is that when weight is on axle and tire on ground spindle moves up and rides on bearing on top and if it is not shimmed right then it will ride on the bottom of spindle on shim and felt. am I looking at this right?
