Speedster question

Newbie here. I just purchased a model T speedster that was in the process of being assembled (as well as other model T parts) and I would love to finish it and enjoy it, but I do not see any instructions. The person that was putting this car together, died and I have no way to ask "are there any assembly instructions)

Any help would be appreciated!

thanks in advance!

Best,

Joe Ferrero

A little more information. Most parts are just set in place, and the parts that are affixed do not seem to be installed correctly (it may be my ignorance in how speedsters are put together - this is why I am looking for the assembly instructions).

As far as assembly insturctions go the only thing thing that comes to mind is the "black bible". The Ford service manual has chapters on disassembling and reassembling the car. It isn't particularly concerned with speedsters but Model T's in general. It might just be the thing you need. Snyder's part # is BT-1. $36.95. Good Luck.

Speedsters, not being stock, often have all sorts of non-standard stuff, so they're likely to vary from what you find in the books. That being said, quite a bit is likely to be stock or close to it. The ideal thing would be to find somebody who knows the difference to look it over and help you with what goes where. Where do you find that person? Start with the two national Model T clubs and see if they list a local club near you. Most clubs have some old guys who know these cars inside out.

Looks like he was using a set of front fenders for the rear you may have to make your own mounting brackets. The brace leaning on the passenger side fender in the first photo is the dash/fire wall mounting bracket, it goes on the engine side and you should see the holes in the frame for where it goes, short side down. Other then that everything looks to be in place.

I live in Geneseo, NY and hour and fifteen minutes east of Niagara Falls, and twenty minutes south of Rochester, NY. (About an hour from Mac's in Lockport). When you get to my place, you cant miss it. I'm the guy with the car in the trees. (Don't worry, it's a 1946 Triumph). You can see it and the other tree houses for my kids' back yard playground at http://treecreations.org or google it under tree creations in geneseo.

If you want to work in the garage, I have a couple lifts and radiant heat for working over the winter.

Thanks again for any and all of the help!

Question(s)
Does anyone have pictures of fender brackets that they used on a speedster? (or how the Rootlieb fenders are supposed to secure to the chassis?)

Some updates on the speedster...

I am trying to correct a few things:

Whoever had it before me had some bent stuff, and made whatever holes (anywhere) to try to make things fit... So I am straightening what I can and replacing what I can't.

The Rear Frame cross member was cracked in a couple places and brazed in one spot. A nice cross member is now in place, and the frame was squared up and secured in a square position.

The engine ran well and is being detailed.

I am trying to perform an initial fit fenders and splash aprons to the frame (frame is without wheels and on jack stands and level)... Does anyone have pictures of fender brackets that they used on a speedster? (or how the Rootlieb fenders are supposed to secure to the chassis?)

Your help is appreciated! :)

Hi there, except for the paint and windshield my chasis is just about the same as your speedster, dropped front axle and everything. Here are some pictures of how the previous owner did the fenderson my car. Because of the lowered front axle he had to extend the fender with sheet metel to connect to the splash apron. Also where the fender bolts on to the chasis he also bent the edges so it would be a nice fit. I dont know if these pictures will help any but here they are.
