i plan on removing the speedo from my 41 ford because the needle is just pulsating, however the mileage and trip indactor are working fine, have replaced cable and casing with new parts, sprayed wd40 no help, when unit is out is there anything i should be looking for that could cause the needle to pulsate and not register speed:confused: appreciate any help thanks al

to fix that problem you have to remove the speedo from the dash, and then get the speedo assembly out of the housing, once you have it out you will find a small welch plug right up close where the speedo cable screws on, remove the plug and you will find a felt wick under it, remove it and clean it good with paint thinner dry it good, put 3 or 4 drops sewing machine or 3n1 oil in the hole, turn the speedo needle shaft untill it turns real free, then wet the wick with oil and replace it, put another 2 or 3 drops of oil on it replace the welch plug, very litely oil all the moving parts you can, dont over do that, the speedo needle shaft is what never gets oiled and causes the needle to bounch
