Speedometer Reduction Ratio Case

I am replacing the internal parts in the speedometer reduction ratio case on my 1930 CCPU. Les Andrews' "Model A Ford Mechanics Handbook" is my reference source. Two questions - 1) should any type of lubricant be put into the case before installation? NOTE: I am using the 19 tooth Nylon speedometer gear. And 2) should the housing gasket be installed as is ("dry"), or should it be "oiled" or some other type of sealant used before installation?

I would pack the gear with grease. I smear a bit of grease on the gasket also.

I like the white lithium grease for this, like Lubri-plate.
