two things, inner cable needs greasing, or the bushing where the shaft that holds the cup that spins around the mangnets on the speedo needle is dry, to lube that you need to get the speedo housing out, and on the top where the cable screws on to the housing you will see a small plug, remove it and the felt plug , put 3 or 4 drops of 3n1 oil or sewing machine oil in the hole, turn the shaft with your fingers till it turns real free, wash the plug in mineral spirts,, dry and add a few drops of oil to it, return it to hole add a few more drops of sewing machine or 3n1 oil on top of the wick, replace plug, to remove the plug use a machine screw that screws in the cup pretty tight then just wiggle it out, i think a #10 screw will work
