or a lot of people are putting a speedo for a bike about 20 bucks and a little work i have one on my 26 works great and is right on the money when checked with the gps
My 27 coupe has a '490' speedometer that was mounted to the lower lip of the dash. This bracket tilted up slightly for easy reading and looks very much like the oil gauge that is seen on Model A's. The unusual spiral gear on the front right wheel and the fiber spiral gear on the cable made the unit very quiet. Complete units are becoming harder and harder to find. The pot metal support bracket for the cable is usually one of the first items to fail. These were accessories in 26/27 and became standard for the 28 Model A.
Allen,
The MTFCI forum has a very good posting showing the installation of the 490 speedometer in the dash. It also details some of the part numbers associated with either wood or wire wheel applications. Good reference material.
