i have two BB frames. the driver stripped the teeth on the gear. the spare frame broke the cable but gears are good. so very new to this vehicle and don't want to take out the good gear so what is the problem here.the good gear was packed in hardened grease. the stripped gear was just oily. looks like john deere corn head grease is the answer and i have lots of that for my deere crawler so problem solved

The speedometer can be lubed as well as the cable& drive. If anything in the system is locked up, it can strip a gear. Torque tube drives like the JD corn head grease.

thanks. the local clock repair guy said take everything apart clean and lube before trying to run it

.....as in Gullwing Stinson? Welcome aboard! DD

I owned a Stinson 108-3 that i loved, but i always thought i would like a Gullwing Stinson. They were beautiful airplanes.

There are actually several companies that make them. PZL-Mielec in Poland (Now a Sikorsky Company) used to make a near R1340 equivalent but they fell on hard times about 30 years ago with manufacturing problems so that was the end of the 600 HP range for the time being. I think they still make the Dromader spray plane and it has a big Shvetsov ASh-62 which was a Russian copy of the old Wright 1820. These engines are now produced in Poland and are also produced in China under a different designation.

Rotec Engineering in Australia makes several small kit plane type radials with the largest being the R3600 (3600CC or 220CID). A Czech company, Verner Motor makes a small radial named the Scarlett 7H with other variations. The Vedeneyev M14P is now made in Romania and some versions are up in the 400-HP catagory so they are among the largest new mid size engines available at this time.
