Here is the history of the speedometer shafts A-17262. In 1928 the A-17262 Shaft was not available as a separate part. If a replacement was necessary, the A-17260 Cable was used which was the entire speedometer cable assembly. Next the A-17262-A Shaft became available as a separate part for 1928 thru 1930 oval speedometers. When the round speedometer came out in late 1930, the A-17262-A became A-17262-AR which indicated it was no longer in production, but available as a service part. I could not find any info about the A-17262-B, but the next shaft listed in the Parts Price List is the A-17262-C which is the shaft for the round speedometer used from late 1930 thru 1931. I do not have info about the physical dimensions of the shafts. Perhaps someone on the Barn can fill in the dimensional differences in shaft lengths & shaft end shapes: A-17262-A; A-17262-B; A-17262-C.
