Speedometer cable question

I have a speedometer cable that I purchased from one of the major Model A parts suppliers. There is a small collar swedged in place near one end of the cable. I assumed the collar belonged at the top to prevent the cable from sliding down. Is this correct, or should the cable be slid into the housing from the bottom? Thanks. Howie

Put the collar at the top. My cable uses a keyed end in the sender and has the collar at the top with the square end for the speedometer.
