Speedometer cable question

I purchased a new speedometer cable from Bratton's and it comes with part A-17260-A and states on the package: NOTE: Some early transmission drive gears with deep hole will required this spacer be dropped in first.

No diagrams, no other instructions.

How do I tell if I need this part? Dropped in where?

Ck the ends of your old cable...................

On the end/bottom of your cable and then into the drive gear.

Also: txmike----What year/model you driving?

If you do not have an early car, you should not have to worry about it unless it was changed how somehow but usually they don't use rare parts.

I guess that would help 1929 Coupe, by engine serial number made in Oct 29

October 29 is not generally considered to be an early car. You are probably good to use the new speedo cable as is.
