On the way to a free dinner at a financial planning seminar tonite the speedo stopped working (see nothing is free). Speedo is supposed to be a rebuilt. Will I be better off ordering cable or cable AND housing? Late 31. Thanks in advance for any advice and/or things to ck for, I already know about the ends, it's a round speedo.

if when you send the speedo cable down the housing and you feel no restrictions i dont think you will need an outer cable just the inner cable, when you pull the inner cable check for shiney spots on the cable, if you see some either the cable is running dry or the outer cable has to tight a bend in it, also make sure there are not clamps squeezing the outer cable to tight, check speedo end of cable to see if its rounded off(not square) or to short, check to see if the speedo end of cable is tight on cable not spinning on it, also check speedo to see if any thing has broken in it, it could even be the speedo gear on the trans has broken

Be sure and check the direction of twist on the cable. It should act like a screw and bring grease down to the gear drive when turned. I got one put together backwards and it filled my speedometer with grease and ruined it.

Chris Cushman sells cables put together right and the correct length. Some vendors sell one too short.
