Removed speedo and cable, cable intact, ck'd gear in turtle and it's ok. Reassembled and now odometer part is working and speedo started to work but not accurate. I think I may have disturbed the clock spring, Snyder's offers a "speedo main spring", are they the same? Can I replace it or is it something a more knowledgeable person do and is there some sort of calbration that needs to be done after spring is replaced? Is there somewhere / someone in new england who does this? Sorry for the rambling and again thanks in advance for any responses.

doing what you did will not disturb the spring, pull the plug, the one that looks like a freezr plug on the side of the speedo, i bet the speedo needle bushing is dry or caked with old grease and not letting it show actual speed, clean the grease out of the speedo head, clean with wd 40 to spray the grease out, dont use wd 40 as a lubricant because its not, then re oil with 3 n 1 oil, or sewing machine oil, make sure the square end of the cable is not rounded off, if it is it will slip in the speedo and not read correctly, fooling with the main spring inside a speedo can become compilicated, if that the problem i would send it in to have it fixed
