special coupe moulding

I was wondering what some of you guys have done for the special coupe belt line moulding? I have the carrier strip but just dont have the pieces that snapes over it?

Well, I didn't have anything on my Special coupe so I bought a piece of brass molding from Universal tire and it has the pretty identical shape and width so I just attached it starting at the center and working around to the doors. It formed easily and I used #8 flat head brass screws countersunk and filled. It's been on there for almost 30 years.

Sacremento Vintage Ford shows a new repro belt molding in their latest catalog, I just ran across it the other day.

The beltline on my Special Coupe was a was a trash job by whoever put the top on but I've been worried about loosening the covering if I replaced it. As long as I'm at it, is their any way to smooth out the lumps under the top?
Thanks,
Pete

I did the same as Barry but used aluminum "D" channel seems good so far.
Peter the only way of beating the lumps is I am afraid, to take it off and start over.
What you end up with is what is underneath. Like a paint job it has to lay flat. I thought I had it perfect but after a year noticed a small 'bump" on on side of the rear, looks like the padding must have sagged? Dunno.....

Thanks Farrell, I may just leave good enough alone and attend to other matters. Any good waterproofing out there? After all we share the same weather.

I can't recall the product name now Peter, but I believe it was a blue/white caulking tube (R-8?) One application was'nt enough (found a drip after hosing her down) Dried it off and re-applied a double bead across the roof on either side of the roof moulding. That did it. This stuff stayed pliable and wiped up with solvent. If I can find the name I'll post it for you. Sunny up here Today but some wet snow flying in the hills now..........stay dry brother.
