Speaking of Pin Stripping....

I have got the "Little Truck" running very well now with NO water leaks and the steering is a whole lot easier. We replaced the water pump and installed the nylon cups on the steering joints. I added a battery cut-out switch and a new rubber floor mat.

Now, what does that have to do with pin stripping? Nothing, I'm just bragging.

The little truck is coming together and I would like to add a few things that would make it mine. Should I strip the same color as the wheels ? Two colors or single line ? The little truck is Maroon( dark brown ) and I think would look good with straw. I would like to change the wheel color but it will be awhile.

Thoughts, pictures or any other comments are welcome.
Thanks all.

I do not know if stripes were on pu trucks. But it is your car, so do what pleases you. If you used wheel color it would be just like many other A's. On a dark body color like yours, light stripes certainly show up well. Check out alot of other cars, then go with what you like. My A has a double stripe in places.

Thanks guys, I'm not a purest yet. I've been a Street Rod/Hot Rod guy all my life so wanting to keep it original is new to me. The HAMB is where I feel comfortable with my type of cars. I do have a strip kit and can pull some nice lines. What I don't want to happen is to push the line bordering not original or close to it.

Two bright colors were my first thought along with the bed but then I got to thinking of overkill. After looking at her for a few hours, thoughts of just the belt line only. I might buy some thin tape and just play around.

you asked for opinions, so i'm giving mine with the best of intentions and hopes that is it not taken critically. In my eyes, many get too jazzy with trucks. They were utility vehicles and were spartan at best. "if" it were my truck, i would lose the white walls, go with black wheels, and do a single line red pinstripe. That being said, it is your baby, and you can do any thing you want with it. Happy motoring and keep the shiney side up.

This is a quick pic from The Model A Ford Paint & Finish Guide.
Hope it helps. I agree with Tom on the color.

My 29 CCPU had pinstripes on it (A pillar, doors and a little on the side panels). I was quite surprised that it had pin-striping that I am 99% sure was original as it was as faded as the Rock Moss Green paint. I acquired a cowl/partial A pillar section and it to had what looks like original pin striping. I have seen another CCPU that was pin-striped and I know that the stripping was original. I know that not many commercial vehicles were "rubbed" out and that is why I thought they weren't pinstriped either. If anyone else has a pickup that has original pin-striping on it, it would be nice to know.

Thanks Bruce for the chart. I'll mix up some grey to match the wheels and give it a shot. Yes I know WW's are not correct but that is what came with the pick up. They will stay on until they need changing, I have 3 other vehicles that need love too.

I hate putting One-Shot on then wiping it off, so I'll play with some tape.

Later.:)

You shouldn't have any problem using the ONE SHOT with Finesse striping tape. It comes in different widths, just follow directions. I did a town sedan with it and that's a lot of striping.
