Sparky Start

Used the search function. Anyone here use a Sparky Start? Comments from those that use them vs. comments from those that don't like them or question why I might need one, or tell me that they are not "original" equipment?

Thanks in advance. :)

Thanks Paul.

I wish I were able to find an original piece, but will probably end up with a replica. I just wanted to avoid some of the drama that I saw in other posts during my search for information. I understand those that wish to keep their cars original, but wanted to avoid being lectured or questioned as to why I would not.

P.S. See post above

I know a fellow who makes and sells a modern version. He's been selling them for several years, including at the Hershey show.

Jay, I like the pic of what I assume is your car but by the location of the hood opening I have to assume that it is not a banger???

I think that the only negative effect would be that you would lose the option to idle with the spark fully retarded. Accessories are more of a personal choice. I can see that it would make it easier to start if the engine choked down on unlevel ground and you needed your right foot for the brake. If I made changes to the starting method, I would probably go with the Fulton upstart, It uses a rod that connects to the starter pedal-button in the floor and you lift up on a lever to start. Snyders sells a repro of this period correct accessory but it is sort of pricey. I remember Debs grand father telling how he made his own upstart, back in the day.

Pleased to say it is indeed a banger. The scoop was commissioned by the original designer/owner.
