spark plugs

3x reproduction— still working great over 40 years later— amortized over a long time they are cheap.
If you have problems with the plugs getting black fix the mixture problem.

I just looked up the price of 3X plugs on the Snyders site - $US38.50. That's cheap? By the time I bought a set of those, paid exchange rate, freight and taxes, they would cost me about $95-$100 each. For my driver cars, I use modern NGK plugs in adaptors. At about $6 and ready availability, I think I am light years ahead. Sure, to a Model A guy, they don't look authentic (because they are not) but Mr joe Citizen wouldn't know.
For years, I used TT10s but they are no longer available. There is an Autolite plug that I guess is supposed to replace it. I've never had a TT10 fail but when I replaced a set after about 70,000 hard miles, I did notice an improvement. If I ever fit those Autolite plugs, I expect about the same life and performance as the TT10s.

I can run gasoline in my model airplane engines with a glow plug that is constantly lit with 1.5 volts. Has anyone tried that with Model A engines? Not that I would recommend that but it would be an interesting experiment.
