Spark Plug Wrench - FOUND

A question for those of you that use Champion spark plugs, which need a 1 1/8" wrench. What kind of wrench do you take with you in your car? An 8" Crescent wrench will not open to 1 1/8". The original spark plug and head nut wrenches I have are only 1" or less.

Paul

I found a good wrench to carry for the large spark plugs. It is an eight inch wide mouth adjustable wrench from Harbor Freight, #67128.

The wrench you have that is 1" or less is a Model "T" wrench. Get a Model "A" wrench which is 1-1/8".

Don:
I have a sparkplug wrench that looks identical to a Model A wrench except it is stamped at the open end "Drop Forged" and the throat is 15/16" - what would that fit? Since you said "1 inch or less is a Model T" I assume it's for a Model T; I have another Ford script wrench with a 1" throat that I knew was Model T. Did T sparkplugs come in 15/16" sizes as well as 1"?

Thanks,
Fred

sparkplugs come in all different sizes... carry a crescent larger size and a model a size plug wrench.....

Many of the wrenches I see as Model A are in fact T, V8, or even Ford Tractor. The proper A wrench will fit. Or just use the adjustable Ford wrench.

I've never liked using just two flats on a spark plug. Buy a single 12 point combination wrench that fits your plugs off the rack at Sears or elsewhere. Just leave it in the car.

How many of you carry a spark plug wrench in your modern car? Just saying

How many model A's have every cylinder's breath computer monitored for stoichiometry and have modern-design plugs controlled by a high energy system that gives 100,000 miles on a set of plugs? Just saying

I carry a knock off Ford adjustable and an old wood inlayed straight screwdriver. Add the duct tape in my backpack and I can fix damn near anything on the road.

Carry a 'AAA' card with extended milage towing, or have someone in a service truck follow you. lol :) My fat girlfriend hates to walk.

Harbor freight sells nothing I would use to work on my A with!
Or buy.
Just saying
I like USA made tools for my USA made car.:)
I found a nice old SK at a church yard sale. They wanted a quarter. Lol I gave them a five.

I have 2 extra knock off Ford adjustables Im going to be selling. Both work with good jaws for a Whopping $2 a piece.
