spark plug socket

I have used both Motocraft and Champion spark plugs in my Model A. Both appear to have the same size hex, .93 to .94 across the flats. I have been using a 15/16 deep well socket which fits well, ( 15/16 = .937).
I would like to obtain an actual spark plug socket but can't find 15/16 anywhere. Does anyone know of a source or am I missing something here? Thanks. Howie

If you're looking for a socket that will "hold" the plug after you unscrew it like a regular spark plug socket would, try putting a piece of hose or something of the like that would hold the plug in it. Just my $.02.

They are out there. Blackhawk brand, model 130. 15/16 Spark Plug Socket. They made them in the late 20's.

aparently after doing some quick googiling people are using 15/16 plumbers valve socket (ace hardware has them)

could almost make one with a deepwell 15/16 socket and some soft rubber with a hole in it jammed inside or some dense foam.

Found this... Not sure if it would be deep enough.

I can't remember the proper name for the store, FARM something. I'm pretty sure I got a 15/16 there, or try to catch a Snap-On , or MAC tools truck at a garage or on the road. FWIW

You may need more than one size deep socket. 15/16 six sided deep socket (at least 2 inches deep) will work on plugs like the Champion W16Y, but the original Champion plug is 1 1/8 six sided. Just something to think about. Bill

At sears hardware, I purchased a deep well 15/16" socket that is more than deep enough... it has 12 points to grab, 1/2" drive.

Are they 1/2 inch drive? The reason I ask is that I remember my Dad's Blackhawk tools as being 7/16 & 9/16 drive. I seem to remember a drive size change in the mid to late '50's. As I remember, Dad wasn't very happy about that.

Ford's tool kit came with the correct open-end "Spark Plug" wrench. I would like to have a "Spark Plug" socket to avoid the hassle (only a little hassle, I admit) of working on the plug behind the distributor and near the firewall. Not having found a correctly fitting deep socket (I did not look very hard), I have been using Ford's Spark Plug wrench for 50 years now.

I am glad to have you Ford Barn folks help me find one ! Gee, what a great resource the Ford Barn gives us all . Thank you FORD BARN !
