Spark help

I wired up a test setup for my new engine. Ignition wire from dist to one side of the coil. A jumper wire with alligator clips from the other coil side to the - on battery. Jumper wire is serving as a disconnect switch. I have spark at the points. New upper plate with original type condenser inside. No continuity on lower plate. NO SPARK at plugs. New button, new dist cap. Input????

If you hold the coil secondary wire about 3/8" from head do you get
a good spark when you open the points?

I haven't tried that. Are you thinking a bad coil?

Run a ground wire to distributor from battery.

He said the points spark....if the dist was not grounded they wouldn't
