Spark and Throttle lever install

Is there an easy way to line up the rods as you install them in the column? It seems near impossible to get them in the bottom holes.I tried using a wire threaded through the hole at the bottom of the rod but of course there is no room in the column hole for both the wire and rod ! I have the bottom of the column reassembled but maybe I should have installed the rods first?

Yes, it's best to istall the two rods before slipping the column over the steering shaft.

Now you will just have to remove the housing or try to turn the handle to a position where you can use the handle to pull the rod to the side and into the bottom hole. The felt anti rattler is what makes it tougher to line up.

Thanks Tom.
I will remove the steering shaft and try again. I'm also using rubber anti rattler sleeves which would be less forgiving than felt.I just figured the rubber would last better.

Got them installed Tom. Thanks for your advice ! Now I'll just have to touch up the paint which was expected anyway:)

I have to do the same thing ,but my column has been powered coated along with the upper bushing ,that is bushing will not come out, don't see how I can get anti rattlers in at all ,let alone getting rods thru bottom holes..any ideas ??

I don't think you can unless you remove the housing from the steering shaft. That is how I would do it. With the shaft hole empty you could insert a metal rod with a notch to help guide the rods to the holes. Or you could use an old long blade screwdriver with a U cut in the blade, as the guide tool.
