spare tire ring on a 35 coupe

I assume you are asking about the tread cover. It is held by friction from the tire and face cover.

I have never had a spare tire cover so if someone could post a picture of the bottom

I would appreciate it

Ford40 Here are some images of the 35 spare tire cover assembly. The assembly consists of the Spare Tire Cover Ring and the Spare Tire Cover. The ring holds the cover in place on top of the tire.

What is the peace that is coming from the center of the wheel to the bottom of the tire? Is that a lock ?

The strap which is in 2 parts. One part connects to the tire mount (which is bolted to the body) and the other attaches to the back of the locking hubcap.
Here is the locking hubcap:

Here is the entire strap that is listed on EBAY:

Not my parts.

I would caution you on assuming that the strap shown on ebay will fit. The advertisement says it may fit 1933-36.

A while ago I asked on the barn whether a 1935 strap would fit on a 1934 car, and was told it should fit.

I bought what was reported to be a 1935 strap, but it didn't fit. Eventually, I decided to just go without the strap. I have a luggage rack, so the strap seemed unnecessary. Here's a photo of my final setup.

Not sure it helps any but the only quick picture I could find of our 35 with NO locking hub cap BUT of the cover on the car. The shadow hides the bottom but as stated above, nothing there to really see. But does show the fitment with the cover and the ring!!!

Found an old photo for you! Being a German made Ford, in 1935 they came with 17" tires so the gap on the outer ring is a bit wider due to the 17" (not 16") rims.
