spare tire mount 41 ford pickup

I am looking for a spare tire mount for a 1941 Ford 1/2 ton. Specifically the one that mounts through the running board. Is there a source for these new or does anyone know of one for sale?

I would check with Mack Hils pickup parts, Dan Carpenter pickup parts, Bruce Horkey's wood and parts, and Mar-K Products. All these companies supply pickup bed parts or complete beds. I suspect one of them makes the bracket as it attaches to the bed.

I checked all of the places you mentioned and nobody carries the spare tire mount. I will keep looking on this site and ebay. Thank you for your help so far.

The spare tire carrier on the 1/2 ton pickup does not mount through the running board, it is welded to the side of the bed. The hole in the 1941 Ford running board allows water to drain away from under the spare tie.

But, I am certain some of the experts on this site know better than I.

I did a check in the "Green Bible" and on page 12 is a diagram of the spare tire carrier and it shows that 1936 to 1941 commercial, does mount to the running board. There is an attachment to the box at some point.

I had a 1937 pickup a while back and it had the same mount on the running board.

I do appreciate all of the feed back on this.

Hi Excalibur,
My 41 has the hole your referring to but my mount is attached to the bed. I have seen pictures of a bracket that used the hole in the board . I believe it was a lock of some kind or maybe a steading brace that had piece that grabbed the top of the tire . . My spare vibrates/moves a lot and the mount has been rewelded to the bed side many times so I think this would help in this regard. Tim
