Sooty Tailpipe reason?

I bought this coil tester off ebay

$89.00 vs. the $300+ for one in Lang's catalog. I set up my four coils using this tester, including one that wasn't buzzing while it was in the car, per the instructions in the blue bible (1.3 amps at 6v), and let me tell you, what a difference in the way the car runs. Smoooooooth! Easy starting. Had to adjust the carb to decrease the idle speed. Incredible.
 
Of course this tester lets you set the amp draw, but does not tell you if you have a double sparking issue. If you do, then your amp draw is half. There is a big difference between this and the $300 tester. Don't be fooled. You never get something for nothing.
