Snyders 5.5 HC Head

I want to publically acknowledge the integrity that I feel Snyders has. I recently purchased a 5.5 HC Head but was not happy with it. I called them to inquire what could be done and was told they would send a second one. Second one arrived and I was not happy with that one. I again called and was told arrangements would be made for FEDEX to pick them up. Today I received a credit to my Credit Card INCLUDING the shipping charge. They are a class act in my opinion!

Agreed, Snyders has excellent customer service!!! So does Speedway. I won't use MAC's anymore after being burned.

I don't know if they would have been an operating problem but I didn't like them. I had written some time ago about this subject. The block I have measures 19 3/8" versus the heads measured out at 19 1/8". My reasoning was that both heads I received were shorter than the block surface by 1/8" both front and back and approx. 1/16" on the drivers side. Would there have been a problem or not I honestly don't know but really didn't want to take the chance. My thoughts where if I put it on and used it perhaps I would not have received a refund.
AGAIN my hat is off to Snyders for the way the situation was handled!!

The Snyders 5.5 head that I bought a couple of years ago fits perfectly all the way around.

Brent, I think it's a fair statement, I along with many others wish the Brumfield head was still available.

As far as Snyders goes I think their great, They just got a batch of heads that didn't quite measure up. Remember a thread a few weeks ago about the head being a little to thick in the stud boss area not allowing the nut to thread on completely.
So in my opinion This last batch of heads that people are complaining about and sending back are inferior to the Brumfield.

As i said before I think Snyders are great and they handled the situation correctly. Bill

Well my opinion regarding Brumfield is a little different because I have plenty of experience dealing with a supplier who was slow to ship and had a head that many of us found needed to be resurfaced so he wasn't without issues either! Funny how we always received an arrogant statement regarding it wasn't his product's fault but that we didn't know how to properly install one. Don Snyder came to the rescue of many of us by having a design flogged by someone knowledgable with a dyno (Bill Stipe) to extract the best efficiency and then delivers. Larry's head may have been the "first" -but at the end it wasn't the "best" in mine and other's opinions. Sales confirm this.

And if you think about it, there is no reason in this world Don Snyder should have needed to tool up to produce that type of head if Larry would have "taken care of his customers"! As you just read above, the Snyder family has no problems repeatedly delivering AND taking care of their customers too. I guess in the end we will just agree to disagree which is the best supplier/manufacturer.

Why is Brumfield's Head always
mentioned to stir controversy when someone complains about a problem
with Snyder's.... as though it's somehow going to improve Snyder's
image???? It makes no sense! Brumfield has nothing to do with it."

Sounds like the Nose point system is running Rampant again!

... if Larry would have "taken care of his customers"!

Let me tell you my story about Larry. I ordered a head from him and soon after lost my job. I contacted him to cancel my order and he told me he had a "second" that had a cosmetic blemish for much less money. I told him that sounded great but I would need some time to get the money together. He sent the head anyway with a note to pay him when I could.

To the end of the story, he was paid, I never could find the blemish and the head has been service/leak free for years now.

I just installed a 5.5 that I have had for 6 months from Synders Fits perfectly and runs well . Interestingly I replaced a B Head . Performance is good Top speed is about the same at 58 mph on the level but with the 5.5 it gets there faster than the B head did . Of course it also now looks stock.

I would also endorse Synders. When you live on the other side of the world Vendor mistakes can be costly and impossible to fix (return postage is often greater than the parts value) . Synders have never let me down .

If I remember correctly Larry explained why a few of his heads were "warped. A too zealous employee. I also unstand that the "error" was corrected. There will always be people who would like (or have) a brumfeld head, some will like the Snyder's head, some will like a B head. Kind of like the "What type of oil should I use?" conundrum. Everyone has their own opinion. JMO
