For some reason when I slam the driver door closed the lock is activated. In the summer time the window is down , but now the window is up and I have to walk around and unlock it. Did I miss something when it was all apart? This is my first v8 restore and wondered if this is a common problem?? The other issue is the noise interfiernce my on the new 12 volt radio. I've got 12 volt system and 60amp alternator. Did not have this problem in the Model A. Perhaps where I wired it up ,or do I need to buy a bunch of condensers?? Thank You and Best of Holidays to You. You may have a weak or broken return spring in the latch assembly. They are color coded and availible from most of the places like Mac/s. I had similar problems over the years and that's how I fixed them. Take a picture of how the spring is located before removing it. This way you will be able to assemble it correctly.
Merry Christmas and best wishes Jay

There is another spring located at the handle that holds the handle in position for lock and unlock.

Any chance your 60 amp alternator has a blown diode? This would make a large amount of noise on your DC bus.

Condenser on the Alternator output point would not be a bad idea, but make sure your grounds (block, battery, radio and where ever on the body you mounted your antenna) are good. If not all at the same potential, you can generate ground loops that sound like alternator noise; a whine that follows engine RPM.

If you are fighting ground loops and your system is all correctly bonded, try using as few ground point as possible. For instance, ground the radio, the DC negative lead on your power cable and antenna at the same point.
