Small block heads question

I'm planning to freshen up my 260 next year and would like to find a set of heads with hard seats. What I can't find out is what heads may or may not work due to the smaller bore. Can I run the GTP heads without notching the block for the valves? I have a good set of D2OE heads, or I can get a set of E7 heads from a Mustang. Opinions? (My intake is an 88 Crown Vic I modified and have a pair of .98 early 2100s on)

I doubt the valves would hit, but the combustion chamber would be too big and cause lower c/r. Not good for power! Put hard seats in your 260 heads. Maybe put in bigger valves and some port work will do all you need. I assume this is a street engine.

It has been a lot of years ago, but I used a set of early 67 289 heads on a 260 and never had a problem with the seats. had a lumpy sig Erson cam. factory aluminum Shelby gt 350 intake and holly 4 bbl. ran the heck out of it. had this combo in a 63 ranchero. ran only unleaded gas

The later heads would make it a real dog, leave it alone and just add this every couple tank fulls:http://www.acehardware.com/product/...142&KPID=1253826&kpid=1253826&pla=pla_1253826 You can see the difference in chamber size here:http://www.mre-books.com/interchange/interchange5.html Really diggin' your intake modification!
