I have frame # 18-2249913 with a year appropriate 21 stud , type 68 headed engine.

Trans stamping, however, shows 1937 production number of 18-1322809

Would appreciate thoughts as to various possibilities resulting in this combination in advance of pending sale so as to represent the car as accurately as possible.

Thank you.

That engine number, 18-1322809, was assigned to an engine/transmission assembly in December, 1934 according to the book, “The Early Ford V8 As Henry Built It.” My 1937 car has a transmission with a 1939 engine number. I just assumed it was replaced somewhere along the way from 1937 until 1964 when my brother purchased it.

I don’t think it should be a big deal in your sale as long as the number on your title matches the number on the frame.

No need to point out that transmission number differs from frame. The only number that matters is the frame number to match the title number. Talk about other numbers not matching will needlessly spook your buyer.
