Slant-Windshield Frankenstein? Right-angle brake lever?

David - Slant window with a straight firewall is perfectly legit. I have one. That would put this car in early 1931, the indented firewall didn’t come until spring 1931 sometime (April? I don’t have references at hand). That right angle e-brake handle is an aftermarket add-on, pushing the handle down gives additional force on the button. Looks like a typical JC Whitney accessory.

That might actually be a Town Sedan, there was only one photo showing the headliner but I didn’t see the dome light mounted in the center of the passenger compartment. Town Sedans had the dome light mounted above the rear window.

Your assumption re the slant windshield cars having an indented firewall is not correct. The slant windshield was introduced on the Victoria in October of 1930 and all of the Leather-back Victorias and about three months of 1931 Steel-back Victorias have flat firewalls. All of the slant windshield cars except the 68C Cabriolet initially had flat firewalls.
 
I would advise you to stay away from this car. There are too many things that need to be addressed and that indicate that there are hidden issues. For one thing, the light switch is hanging down under the frame. There is some rust showing through on one door. Some damaged sheet metal on one fender. Etc.

Besides, the paint is butt ugly.

But if you are thinking of acquiring a closed car, the Fordor variants are roomy and comfortable. They make great touring cars.
 
I was just seeking clarification about the flat firewall and slant windshield.
I’m not in the market for a second Model A, though a closed car would be my next choice. Air conditioning would be a primary reason. It’s no surprise that VintageAir is headquartered here in San Antonio. Even then, I’d go for a car that is close to what I want and doesn’t need extensive work. I’ve had the Wretched Roadster for several years, and she’s still several projects from losing her nickname. And finally, I’m more inclined to buy locally where I can see the car in person and test drive it, for a price that is not incrementally higher due to BaT’s brokerage fee. I watch the BringaTrailer “Prewar” section for entertainment and education, which led to this very thread.
 
David, I was not suggesting that you considered buying this car. I just threw out that suggestion to stay clear for general consumption. I too peruse BaT for entertainment. There is an interesting RR PII on there now. I also look at Craig's List in various cities and eBay for entertainment.

Besides the paint being butt ugly, it was not a very good paint job.

It will be interesting to see what it goes for.

Seriously though...ooof...this car looks really rough. Not just from the paint, but a general lack of maintenance and crummy repairs.

I am surprised that the line "recently rebuilt engine" isn't in the description as this is often the condition "recently rebuilt engines" are in when the car is listed. :D

If this car breaks $10k, someone is overpaying by a significant amount.

Depends on the price and what he's shopping for. It's $2,600 now and I'll wager 90% of the people here would buy it @ $5,000 or less.
I want it just for the funky Ebrake accessory handle. Anybody got one they'll part with?
 
4 days left and up to $4,200. It may go over the $10,000 mark. I suspect that an inexperienced buyer may be impressed by the paint at 50 feet and by the fact that it is a slant windshield model. In my opinion it will need a complete refurbishing that will cost big bucks and lots of free time on the part of whoever purchases the car. At a minimum there will be a lot of repairs to do.
 
Too often the term "recently rebuilt engine" just means a fresh coat of Ford Engine Green spray paint has been applied - usually without masking off anything in the near vicinity. I have heard this kind of cosmetic engine "rebuild" referred to as a Dupont Restoration. :)

Looks too modern - built on a brake not stamped out with style. I could replicate that one for $15. The original has a proper look.

Apparently the BaT buyers are smarter than I thought. The car sold for $6,500, less than the $10,000 I thought.
