Slant Window Wiper

We have sent out to be rebuilt my buddies wiper motor from his 31 Slant Window Sedan. We had to have the Windshield frame repainted so we thought we would tidy this up as well. Their is a rubber grommet that fits over the shaft and covers the mounting hole in the top of the where the wiper goes through the header. I have called all of the parts houses and no one has this item. Yes I can make something with black silicone but would prefer something better. Any ideas?

there is no grommet on the s/w wipers. the shaft the goes thru the header is threaded and uses a chrome nut , flatwasher and gasket on the outside to hold the wiper on.

I have never seen that part available. Like jetmek said, it is a gasket and a washer. I can send you a couple of photos of the setup from other peoples' cars. My car was missing those parts, and it took me a while to figure out what was supposed to go there.

I had this one on file can't remember where it came from. Maybe of Bill Cilker's original Victoria.

Doug the best way I can describe what was there is a rubber washer with a boot that slid over the shaft. Then the washer and nut. It disintegrated in my hands it was so brittle. Any pics you might have would be helpful.

who did you send your wiper to? Mine doesn't work real well & want to get it fixed. I also have a sw sedan. The parts houses want like $250 bucks and it is an exchange.

Anyone have any luck using the rebuild kits that bratton sells?

They do not work on the original wiper with the 2 screws in the front cover.

For the washer check out the JS pages 20-09 and 20-10.
It explains it all

Take a look and see if this help, there is a rubber washer on the outside and a chrome nut on that, i used a nut UNDER the washer also to hold the shaft better and stopped any movement. The washer consists of rubber and cork and i used a drop of black gasket sealer underneath.
