The rear doors on my S/W are still loose and hard to latch when shut .the part of the latch that holds on the striker plate moves back and forth to much , can they be fixed or does anyone have good ones for sale .

Could the serrated portion on both pieces be worn away? If so, could you use a file and re-cut them on both parts.

The striker on the door post is worn and could be filed or replaced they are sold at MIKES . The part that is in the door and catches on the striker is loose moves in and out not up and down . when the door is shut it is lose on the striker .

The part in the door that catches on the striker is hinged and pivots on a pin that is about 3/16" dia. Sounds like either the pin is worn or the pivoting part that the piin fits thru is worn. Or both. I took the latch apart, welded up the hole and redrilled it. Then replaced the worn pin. Ken

I rebuilt all my S/W door latch mechanisms, and they work well, but I had do do a lot of filing and welding. BTW, the part that sticks out of the door and engages the striker plate on the door post is called the "bolt". On these latch mechanisms, the bolts are sold chunks of metal, but they are riveted to a much lighter stamped carrier, and the rivets could get loose. Then they would tend to flop around.

The repro strikers are pretty nice, but they may come with the wrong size bolt for attaching them to the door post.
