Slant Window (or others) door hinge pins

Bob Bidonde mentioned in a post about roll pins at hinge mirrors. For sloppy doors, has anyone tried reaming out the center hinge barrel and installing a roll pin that would fit the stock (larger dia.) size pin ? Then as wear progresses, the roll pin could be removed and replaced along with a new pin. I was thinking of a brass tube sleeve (see photo)but Bob's idea of a roll pin makes great sense.

Mike: concur, hence the discussion. Will locate a 5/16" roll pin and see if it fits the .279 hinge pin.

I purchased a 5/16" split roll pin which is slightly larger dia. than the sw pins. It appears it should fit the outer hinge barrels, but what if only the center barrel is worn? I can't see that the split pin would help unless all the barrels are reamed out the same. Since the center barrel is only where the wear appears to occur, a sleeved bearing would be needed in the center barrel only and no need for drilling or reaming the outer barrels (which would accept the std. vendors' s.w. pin). I guess I'm inquiring what that sleeve material and size would be other than the brass thin wall or perhaps brake line material that was mentioned in another post.

update for consideration: made approx 1" long sleeves for the worn center hinge barrel out of 5/16" thin wall stainless tubing; had to ream out to 9/32" for stock SW pins. then will drill or ream out barrel to 9/64" as a starter or as necessary to fit. no drilling of outer barrels req'd.

I used some brake tubing I had laying around.

Bored the hinge, countersunk the hole and flanged the tubing. Then I reamed to size.

Kevin: it appears the (5/16" o.d.) brake tubing is .028" wall thickness. Or did you use 3/8" o.d. line? The 5/16" o.d. stainless A304 tubing has .022 wall so should work the same to fit the SW pins when reamed. Did you only sleeve the center barrel, which may not require a flanged shim top?
