Slant Door Rubber Solutions??????

For the Slant bodies there is a lower door rubber bumper. It has two faces, one on the outside edge and the other facing forward. On the wood based bodies there is a metal clip that screws to the wood holding the rubber.

I am trying to fit what I got from Vintique and it appears by the pictures to be what is the current solution offered by the parts houses.

What does not fit, let me count the ways.

First off the width of the inset for the metal clip is too wide. I trimmed some rubber off there.

Then the back has to be trimmed as holding area is too big to get the outside edge back.

Once in place the bumper is way too large and pushes the bottom of the door out. After significant trimming I have it only pushing the bottom of the door out a little.

So is there a part that actually sort of fits???????

Thanks,

Kevin

in my experience Vintique's slant window door parts kit is useless without a sharp knife. Their metal dove tail parts belong in the garbage can, not the door latch.

I put the sedan version of those Vintique rubber bumpers on my S/W sedan. They are somewhat oversize like you say, but I can live with them, especially after putting a couple of coats of Armor-All on them to allow the edge of the door to slide past them more freely.
But are the sedan parts equivalent what you are using on the Cabriolet?
If the opportunity arises, I may try to fix them like this: I'll freeze them in dry ice (or liquid nitrogen) and then sand them down to the correct contour. The rubber will be rock-hard, and it should be possible to get a nice smooth surface with fine sandpaper (and gloves!)
