Sky high car prices

I have a spare one. Hmmmmmm, now what were they selling for? :D

More than I would pay. I'll stick with my B filler even those are crazy prices now though. :)
Personally I blame eBay for these issues. You used to have to get up at O'dark thirty and go to a swap meet or make new friends in your area to come up with cool items like a Fumaze. Now all you have to do is sit in the comfort of your easy chair and click.
With eBay theres no hot coffee and donuts:) Nothing beats a good swap meet

I've seen the same overpriced cars on craigslist for a long time. You might see the price of restored cars go up some. But I think the more costly labor gets. And everything else from parts. To good paint jobs costing much more. You will see the price if projects take a nose dive.

We don't have to look very far to find an overpriced project and a whiney seller that doesn't like old car owners.

Most overpriced stuff I see. Are cars that someone inherited. And think its worth a bunch. Because they saw one sell for that amount.

In 1968 I thought a Model T was the neatest thing ever. Who had money. I couldn't afford one. I'll wait till I'm older and buy one. 40 years later I had the money and that led to a dream car a model A. The good old days were the good old days but for many of us money was scarce and wages not all that good.
Really little has changed.
A very nice Model A can be found for what a late model Toyota cost and if you look for considerably less.
BTW Samsung makes an 85 inch TV. $39,997.99. Take it from me they wont fit in a 1930 coupe. The remote does not come with batteries. <grin>

The best that I remember , some were going for over two hundred bucks. We watched them on eBay for a while. Even the junky ones were over a hundred. They are a cool period accessory that really works. I think that Smith and Jones and maybe Gas light use to sell them. The repro Fumaze breathers wasn't expensive at all and I wish I could have stocked up when they were still available. I don't remember ever seeing one at any swap meet that I have ever attended. The two that I've got was found in a junk box of stuff in a collection of model A parts that I got in Mississippi in 99. I had to do a little work and make one part for mine. the other is missing the top and I can't make that part. I figure one will turn up eventually.

Whenever I am shopping, as I just was a couple of months ago for a Model A, I do the advanced search on EBay and search only the Sold vehicles. It's amazing the difference in the price of the sold cars and the ones currently listed.

I'm sure there are some $38,000.00 Model A's out there, but not for me. That's just out of my league.

I finally found my 31 SW on Craigslist for just over $9,000....running and driving. I did have to put new tires on it.

Similar cars on EBay were $11-15,000.

RBH...gonna drive this weekend!

Maybe look at it this way: If multiple people everywhere commented all the time on how good looking your wife was, you probably would take her out more often & never think about getting rid of her either. LOL

the old gray horse, she ain't what she used to be................. :)

l'd love to see the selling prices; alot of folks try to cover their restoration costs and that rarely happens:rolleyes: We bought ours at 40% less than asking price in 2009

Hi ronn,

Timing is just right for your very sincere kind & thoughtful reply no. 48.

Wife & I got out of our car very recently at the store the other night & we walked pass about 5 very young ladies coming out of the store whereby my wife looked at me & commented, "Why were those young ladies starring at you?".

I told her she ought to see them get far more excited when I am walking alone.

I've been limping on my right leg for 2 days; but .......... good news .......... is it is getting better ................Thanks! LOL

On C.L. there's 4 fenders off of a 29 Seller wants $4000.00 for the 4
"Orignal Ford"

In my neck of the woods, asking price is double what it was five years ago for comparable cares. Sometimes more.

I guess the advice should be to hang on to the Model A's you have because if you sell one you won't be able to afford to buy it back later.
