have a 59 motor with dual 3/8 belts want to convert to single 5/8belt..motor has 8ba front assy . distributor top right side..what all do I need dont need fan will run elec.

You will need 8RT (truck) water pumps and 8RT crank pulley. You will need to address the the generator too. I think a 8BA / 8RT generator mounting bracket will work, but you need the 8RT pulley for the generator.

The snout on the 8RT water pumps are longer to clear the distributor. They use the wide belts and they have the same engine mounts as the 59A.

I have '51 Merc on an engine stand I was going to put in a '32 Coupe. Like has been said, you need the late model truck pumps with the wide belts. I used a wide belt '49 double pulley and then machined off the front pulley which I didn't need because I was going to run a fan on the generator. '49 was the last year for the wide belts so you will need one of those '49 crank pulleys.

I have found a correct pulley for your setup. It is not on an engine so I have measured it sitting on a flat surface. From the engine (back) side of the pulley to the center of the the water pump / generator belt is 2".
The belt center for the fan is a further 1 1/4".
I'm reasonably confident that this will allow you to use the 59 style generator and fan.
I'm pretty sure the pulley is 8RT.
Depending on the timing cover you have the pointer for the timing mark is installed at a different radius by a quarter inch or so. I assume the 8BA front pulley has a smaller OD. Get back if this is a problem.

I believe this is an 8RT configuration. This is how you want the front of the motor to look, but shinier!

thanks 69a and all ..sounds like 8rt might be the answer water pumps and pulleys Ican convert alternator to 5/8 pulley..trying to make room for new radiator and elec fan..I will check all this out when I pull the motor to look at my starter problems..

This might be helpful.
When I installed an 8BA in my 40, I used 8RT water pumps and 8RT wide belt crank pulley and wide belt alternator pulley. One long crankshaft pulley belt turns the water pumps and alternator. The other short belt runs between the crank pulley and the fan pulley. Had to buy new belts that would fit.
The new shorter belt is a wide fractional Horspower Belt. You can see the numbers on the belts. Fan hub pulley is homemade but, your original will work too.
