Signal-Stat Turn Signal Wiring

I installed a Signal-Stat 900 and it works except both rear lights flash when signaling left or right. The front lights flash correctly. I'm confused about the wiring at the brake switch. The diagram shows the black/grey wire runs to the brake switch but it doesn't show if it runs to the hot terminal or the terminal that is only hot when the pedal is depressed. It also doesn't show any wire leaving from the brake switch like the one that was already there running to the brake lights. Can anyone clarify this for me?

First question... Are you working on an old car that is wired with only ONE wire feeding both rear brake lights? If yes, obviously both lights will flash for either left or right.
If this is the case, a second wire needs to be added, so that the brake lights are fed from TWO independent wires.
With that settled, then your question about the black/grey... It DOES NOT go to the hot terminal, but rather to the terminal that is hot when the pedal is depressed. NO wire from the switch goes to either brake light. (The wire that used to be on the switch for the brake lights, now becomes a brake light wire for either L or R, your choice. And, this original wire for the brake lights, needs to be separated, so that it feeds only ONE brake light, your choice. Then, this wire connects to Grey or Black, your choice. The new wire that you added, goes to your 'other' choice, for one of the brake lights.)
Since you didn't ask about any of the other wires, I assume you have those figured out.
(Black wire goes to RR brake light, Grey wire goes to LR brake light. One of those wires will be NEW, if you are dealing with an older car.)

The brake lamp and signal wires are the same wires to the rear, grey left rear bulb black right rear bulb. Separate wire to each side. Black and grey to the cold side of brake switch according to diagram.

Here's my attempt to make it simple....
1. disconnect the wire from the 'cold' side of the brake light switch. Connect this wire to the black wire on the SS-900.
2. connect the black/grey wire to the 'cold' side of the brake light switch.
3. run a new wire to the LR brake light. cut the existing wire on the LR brake light, and attach the new wire to the pig tail that you just created for the LR brake light. Tape and make safe the other end of the wire you just cut.
4. connect the grey wire from the SS-900 to this new wire.
5. Done
I have assumed a pre-49 Ford or Merc, or any other car that is wired similarly.
If you have a 49-50 Ford, there is another option. Topic of another post. Could apply to 51-53, too. I don't know.

Thanks guys. I appreciate your help. I have it working now. I had the plugs crossed at the tail lights. My bad!! It is a 1935 that had one tail light. I added the right light, changed them both to LED and added a Brake Lighter.
