Sidemount irons - 1930 Coupe

How do I tell the difference between right and left irons for the front fender sidemounts.

Photo shows iron on left (from drivers side) and iron on right (passenger side) look the same.

Mounted on the car the drivers side measured 1/2" shorter in height from the bottom of the wheel well. Thus the spare was hard to squeeze in on the driver's side - but this could be a fender problem.

Asking for help to figure this out.

Mounted on the car, on the passenger side, the end of the iron lines up with the center of the wheelwell. On the drivers side it extends a bit past the center line of the wheel well, which tells me the iron should be bent upwards a bit. But this assumes that the fenders are the proper fit.

Thanks,
Don

Checked the wheel carrier flanges. Both look the same. Kooks like the one on the right is an original with the boss in the center from the passenger's side, and the one on the left is a copy cut from flat steel.

What should be the difference between right and left? Slot in opposite slant?
