Side mirrors for phaeton

Currently I am running a hinge mirror on drivers side (RHD car) which is OK when side curtains are not used but is too low and out of view with side curtains in place. I am looking for a matching set of mirrors for the right and left side of the car. I have concealed nuts in the the windscreen stanchions (5/16-24) for wind wings which have been removed by the previous owner. I was thinking of using those to bolt on a bracket to attach some new mirrors. Has anyone had a similar situation or have a better idea? I have thought of hinge mirrors with a longer arm but the existing one requires constant adjustment. I would like something that looks period and is functional.

Because I drive my '28 Phaeton quite a bit, I am a big fan of having as many rear-view mirrrors as possible. For over 50 years, I have had side-view mirrors on both of my wind-wings. Additionally, last year I added two additional mirrors to my stanchions. I tried using first one of the two stanchion attachment screws, and then the other, to see which highth worked better for rear viewing.

As you may know, wind-wings must by turned inward when Side-Curtains are installed, which makes the side-view mirrors on the wind-wings non-functioning. So I have hope that when the wind-wing mirrors are of no use, the new Stanchion mirrors will work for rear viewing. Of course the arms on the stanchion mirrors will get in the way of a tight fitment of all the curtain/stanchion snaps, I think that those snaps that do fit will do an adequate job of sealing the front of the Side Curtain.

I have not yet checked to see how well the new Stanchion mirrors work when Side-Curtains are installed; and do not see any need to do so in the near (or distant) future. But without the Side-Curtains, I must say that I really do like the added safety feature of having additional rear view capability.

I bought my two Side-View mirrors for Stanchion attachment, from Bert,s (part # A-17710) in Denver, but I think most vendors carrying them. About $85 for the pair.

Thanks Doug. I am going to try the stanchion attachment. I have installed one on the LHS and am awaiting another mirror from Bratton's for the RHS.
